VSS Circuit Malfunction (4T65-E)
Description
Engine speed started, engine running, Fuel Cutoff inactive, not in Park or Neutral, time since last gear range change more than 6 seconds, Transmission Output Shaft speed rise more than 250 rpm in 2 seconds, and the PCM detected a drop in the Output Shaft Speed sensor signal of over 1500 rpm within 3 seconds.
Cause and Solution
Output shaft rotor is chipped or damaged (intermittent fault)OSS tip contains debris or metal shavings (intermittent fault)OSS plus signal circuit is open or shorted to ground (intermittent)OSS (-) signal circuit is open or shorted to ground (intermittent)OSS is damaged or has failed (an intermittent fault)
