Idle Speed Control Throttle Position Mechanical Malfunction
Description
Engine started, battery voltage at least 11.5v, all electrical components off, ground connections between engine and chassis well connected, coolant temperature at least 80-degrees Celicius and the throttle valve must not be damaged or dirty; and the ECM detected the signal from the Throttle Position Valve Module to the ECM detected was erratic, non existent or unreliable (too high or too low) suggesting a mechanicl malfunction.
Cause and Solution
Alternator failed ECM failed Fuses blown or open circuits Clean Throttle Valve Control Module Accelerator cable not adjusted properly Idle speed control throttle failed Wire connections to relay carrier and ground connection of ECM may have shorted
