Motor Rotor Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction (HYBRID MODELS)
Description
With the ignition switch ON and battery voltage at a minimum of 10.0 V, one of the following symptoms can occur. Symptom 1: An abnormal signal is output from the R D converter for at least 0.4 seconds within 0.5 seconds. Symptom 2: The output voltage to the motor rotor position sensor is 0.1 V or less for at least 0.5 seconds. Symptom 3: The input voltage to the motor rotor position sensor is 1.2 V or less for at least 0.5 seconds. Symptom 4: The deviation of the IMA motor speed and the engine speed is 500 rpm or more for at least 2 seconds. (IMA system indicator is ON) WARNING: The IMA system uses high voltage (144 V), before servicing turn OFF the battery module switch.
Cause and Solution
Poor connections or loose terminals at the motor rotor position sensor and the MCM Open or Short circuit between the motor rotor position sensor and the MCM Faulty motor rotor position sensor MCM may need to be updated with the latest software Faulty MCM
