Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT), Signal Missing
Description
The engine coolant temperature (ECT) signal from the engine control module (ECM) is a pulsed signal, the frequency of which changes with temperature. Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECC-135 is stored if the control module detects that the pulses from the engine control module (ECM) are missing for more than approximately 6 seconds when the engine is running.
Cause and Solution
Short-circuit to supply voltage or ground in the signal cable.Open-circuit in signal cable.Contact resistance in terminals.Defective engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
