Cold Start Idle Air Control (IAC) System Performance
Description
The actual engine speed is greater than the desired idle speed by at least 200 RPM for greater than 4 seconds or for a cumulative of 30 seconds. The ECM detects 3 fuel cut-offs due to an engine over speed condition while the vehicle speed is zero.
Cause and Solution
Air inlet duct is collapsed, loose or air filter element is clogged A parasitic load on the engine Base engine problem (i. e. , compression or misfire condition) MAF sensor is dirty, out-of-calibration or it is skewed Throttle plate, throttle shaft or linkage is damaged or sticking ECM has failed
